'Positive Self-Talk:
The Importance of Teaching
it Young.'
Positive self-talk when practiced improves quality of life and increases self-esteem in people.
The shocking truth is that “85% of the world’s population is affected by low self-esteem” (Self-Esteem-School). So, how can we increase confidence and self-esteem in adults? One way we can do this is through positive self-talk. Positive self-talk can either be aloud or in one’s heads. This type of talk is a productive and often affirmative dialogue to one’s self. Positive self-talk when practiced improves the quality of life and increases self-esteem and confidence in people. Sadly, many people do not practice positive self-talk in daily life. My solution is to increase the amount that adults model and teach positive self-talk to children. This will increase the child’s self-confidence and self-esteem, hopefully educating them on how to practice positive self-talk into adulthood.
